Dearest Caelee Bee,
It's just mom and dad saying hello. Today marks the beginning of the third month that you have left us.
While you were here, we weren't sure you fully understood everything we were saying. But now that you are in heaven, we know your comprehension is complete and perfect, so there are a few things we would like to say to you. I bet you already know this, baby, but it helps us to say it anyway.
Here we go:
- Thank you for being the youngest in our family and also the precious gem from Heaven
Thank you for your patience.
Sometimes, it must be difficult to get our attention from all your energetic brothers.
- Thank you for seven months of incredible joy that you have brought us
Each one of us truly enjoyed our time with you.
Evan love your giggles,
Aidan love your finger plays
and Logan love you, just simply you being you.
- Thank you for your love for us so pure and so genuine
Many times, Gong Gong (Grandpa)
told us how special your love
and undivided attention to mommy was.
(By the way, he misses you too)
- Thank you for your beautiful smiles and your big wet kisses
Those were the dearest things to us.
- Thank you for your infectious smile and laughter
You have made a permanent impression in all of our lives. Many friends and relatives told us
how special you are to them as well
and how your passing has changed
their view of their own lives.
Eric gor gor says that we are blessed
to have a child like you who comes
and leaves this world making everyone happy.
We think he is right. Even now, our relationships with others have grown richer because of you.
- Thank you for those precious moments
when we had you lying between us each night,
allowing us to stare at your perfect face.
Those alone times with you while all the brothers were asleep are just priceless.
- Thank you for being a super duper easy baby
It was just wonderful that we often had down-time
when we would just lie around enjoying
each others company. No fuss involved.
- Thank you for being an excellent communicator
At early months, you already knew how to tell us your needs: poopooing, changing of diapers, feeling hungry and so on. We could hear you even though you only babbled. Our bonding was definitely special.
- Thank you for being the irreplaceable you.
Your uniqueness was so apparent from the moment of your birth. How different you were from your brothers.
You will always be our special one and will continue to be in our hearts and minds every day of our lives.
We know God only lent you to us for seven short months but our times together were wonderful. They were full of love and joy. We are especially thankful that there was nothing between us that was ever left unsaid, no promises ever broken, no hurtful words ever spoken, and no wasted moments ever spent between us.
If you are wondering why everyone is crying, please understand that we are sad because we miss you. Just as Logan’s simple diagnosis of Mommy’s tears as cases of “missing Caelan again? Are you sad?” Mommy and Daddy are not mad at God. We know very little down here but we trust that He does. It's hard for us to imagine how perfect your joy is in heaven, and that you know happiness beyond our understanding. But we know you are well taken care of in a place where there is no more tears, no more pain, no more fear, and no more shame. It is even better than at Po Po’s house.
So Caelan, baby, please, please, please know that we are only crying for our own sakes. That we could not have the extra time of knowing you more and seeing you grow. We must seem pretty silly, huh?! Crying our hearts out while you are surrounded in perfect joy? Perhaps you are even bouncing on Jesus' knee right now or working hard in God’s office as Aidan puts it.
It's just that time moves much more slowly down here, my boy boy. Mommy misses and yearns to be with you time after time. It's hard for us down here to think that this time we spend apart is less than a blink of an eye compared to eternity we will spend with you in heaven.
So for now, you will see us cry and saddened because you are not in our midst. But many times, Evan will pat mommy’s back and assure her that “Caelan is in Heaven, Mom! Don’t you know?!” Yes, we know. We know for sure God will continue to comfort us and give us strength each day. As time goes by, people tell us, that we will cry a little less and smile a little more.
Until then, we know Jesus will share with you about us each day. It won't be long until we meet again. So, get busy and pick out a cool, comfy spot in the room that God has prepared for us. Make sure there is enough space where we can all lie down, snuggle up, and dance around just like old times. We look forward to the day we have our family reunion!
Loving you always,
Mommy, Daddy, Evan, Aidan and Logan
